Video: The Indian test team uses an innovative way to grab

Chester-le-Street (Durham): Some of the world’s top cricket players, such as New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, play rugby as a warm-up. The Indian team in England took a step further on Tuesday and improvised the rugby warm-up with a cricket ball.

The Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) released a video of players using an innovative method that coaches apparently brought to Indian training sessions.

Players had to pass the ball through seven passes and place it in a small circle marked inside the field some distance from them.

However, players were not allowed to use both hands.

Even if they caught it with both hands, they couldn’t pass it with the same hand.

“You have to run and grab the ball. It’s a simple game. With a hand to catch, you have to throw with the opposite hand,” said a member of the team’s support staff.

“After the seventh pass, the ball should land inside that area. The ball must be held in that area, you can drop it and place it there,” he added.

Cheteshwar Pujara, who hit the Indian test on side No. 3, explained it in the video: “The ball is caught with both hands and thrown with the opposite hand, and if you are touched, you are gone. To get seven passes and the ball must fall from the middle [small circle]”

While India was okay on the field in the World Cup final, dropping just a couple of catches on the last day, their catch and fieldwork have been worrying lately.
