De’Aaron Fox hits back at fans accusing his family of passing on Luka Doncic

Sacramento Kings goaltender De’Aaron Fox isn’t letting the latest accusations against him and his family go unnoticed.

Apparently, according to Twitter users, Fox’s dad sent a tweet (which has since been deleted) disagreeing with Davion Mitchell’s team selection in the 2021 NBA Draft.

This tweet did not appeal to some fans and critics alike as people began to theorize that Fox’s camp may also have played a role in the Kings’ decision to drop Luka Doncic in the 2018 NBA Draft. L one of them even argued that Fox and his family would not allow Luka to be the face of the franchise.

Of course, as has been the subject of all discussion in the Kings fanbase, the 23-year-old quick guard noticed the conversation surrounding the issue and responded to deny the claims. According to him, his father is not part of his team and is therefore not involved in any of his decisions.

He’s not on my team. He doesn’t work for me. He’s a parent and fan who speaks like you. So take whatever they say as fans having conversations like you do every day. https://t.co/J92PAktMyZ

Luka Doncic was the third overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, and the Kings really had a chance to catch him since they had the No.2 pick. However, as they already have a point guard in De’Aaron Fox whom they see as the future face of the franchise, the team decided to have a great man instead in Marvin Bagley III.

The Atlanta Hawks then picked Doncic at No.3 and traded him to the Dallas Mavericks for Trae Young and a few picks. As everyone knows, Doncic has established himself as the best player in the class with already two All-Star appearances.

Nonetheless, it’s great to see Fox stand up and talk about the issue instead of letting his dad speak.

Additionally, while it would have been interesting for Kings fans to see Doncic play alongside Fox, it should be noted that Bagley has yet to have a healthy season and it is still too early to abandon it.
