3 wide receivers that could become WR1 in 2021

Unlike last year, there are no clear top dogs going to the 2021 season in Auburn’s football WR room.

At this point in 2020, Bo Nix had two future NFL drafts (Seth Williams, Anthony Schwartz) and a third potential NFL signer (Eli Stove) who were formed and trusted to bear the burden during the upcoming campaign.

This season, the most popular pass-catch recruiter is the sixth-year transfer, which plays in the third school.

The picture is a lot different this year, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be success stories. In fact, breaking last year’s 6-5 record seems certain with a normal schedule and offseason to prepare for the Tigers.

Auburn Football Potential WR1 # 1: Ze’Vian Capers

Zac from the Blackerby Locked On Auburn podcast and USA Today’s Auburn Wire got an interesting little knowledge and understanding From Justin Hokanson’s latest program on Auburn Live:

Here are a few things:

1. Malcolm Johnson Jr. is clearly a name to look out for. Perhaps waiting for him to jump to the top of the depth chart at any time is too fiery an act, but he is in a wave here in his first collegial practices.
2. Kobe Hudson’s stock has fallen slightly recently.
3. Ze’Vian’s Capers have made enough noise for his name to be mentioned occasionally as a possible WR1 race.

AL.com’s Tom Green too mentioned Caprices as a consistent return piece in the WR room:

Just a few months ago, Hudson’s name was mentioned in the same light as Capers ’name now. Capers has used the summer to catapult into the mix as he is one of the most important movers and shakers of the fall.
