ROCHESTER, NY Five local basketball players encourage it to pay it back to their community by encouraging young people to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

It’s part of a new “Shot for a Shot” event to be held next Tuesday, August 24th.

12- to 17-year-olds who are vaccinated at the clinic can take pictures with Isaiah Stewart, Naz Carter, Anthony Lamb, Quinton Rose and Antwoine Anderson.

Families also have the opportunity to earn up to $ 100 in gift cards for vaccination.

“When I’m home in Rochester, I’m close to many family members,” Stewart said. “Because my mom and dad are older, I want to protect them too, because I want to see them and be around them. It really got me getting the vaccine. At first it took a while, it wasn’t an immediate answer.”

“Promoting vaccination initiation is really important right now,” Lamb said. “Only to get things back to everyone can I feel comfortable and feel safe, and not have to get into that stress and anxiety” I don’t know who I can talk to. I don’t know with whom I can get around. I now know that I can get sick, not just my family or parents. If I stay away from them, I can personally get sick and be in danger. ‘It is important that we are able to remove this weight from all our backs. “

The event will be held at the Lightfoot R-Center on Flint Street in Rochester from 2 to 5 p.m.

Pre-registration is highly recommended. You can register here.
