The STILLWATER Oklahoma State basketball team will meet at Houston’s Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas as part of the Hoop Hype XL College Basketball Showcase on Dec. 18.

Led by head coach Kelvin Sampson, the Cougars are coming to a magical run in the Final Four, which included a 28-4 record and the title of the American Athletics Tournament. Oklahoma State will lead the all-time series with Houston 13-8, including a victory of 61-55 at the last meeting on December 15, 2019 at the Fertitta Center.

Adding Houston to the Cowboys 2021-22 table raises the total number of OSU matches against participants in the 2021 NCAA Tournament to 16. Based on last season’s final NET ranking, Mike Boynton and the Cowboys have placed 14 quarter 1 and five quarter 2 opponents for the upcoming campaign.

With the exception of five post-season games, the Cowboys were 10–7 in quarter 1 and 3–1 in quarter 2 against 2020–21. The NCAA ranked OSU 17th nationally on schedule last season, while KenPom has rated the Cowboys schedule 28th or better in all four years of the Boynton era.

OSU is about to embark on a banner season that included a trip to the Big 12 Championship match and the program’s first NCAA tournament win since 2009. The Cowboys will return a member of the All-Big 12 Championship team Avery Anderson III and a double All-Big 12 Conference selection Isaac Likekele to a list that also includes stand out Kalib and Keylan Boone, Rondel Walker, Matthew-Alexander Moncrieffe and Bryce Williams.

Boynton also added four talented moves, with OSU ready for the second round in March. Former Kansas standout and McDonald’s All-American Bryce Thompson anchors an incoming class that also includes a former big man from Memphis Moussa Cisse, Texas Tech forward Tyreek Smith and the former wing of Syracuse Woody Newton.

Dickies Arena is a state-of-the-art 14,000-seat venue that opened in November 2019. The arena has hosted several college basketball games and is the host of the first and second rounds of the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

The Oklahoma State Alumni Association’s North Texas chapter has nearly 20,000 members, and the three current Cowboys are from the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex.

More information about the event as well as ticket and TV information for the Hoop Hype XL will be released later.

Cowboy basketball season tickets are now on sale and start at just $ 150. This year, OSU is offering 20 percent discounts to those who purchase at least four 300-level season tickets. Visit okstate.com/tickets or call 877-ALL-4-OSU to purchase tickets or for more information.
