Boston Red Sox COVID epidemic: Martin Prez becomes third player, fourth person to travel with the team for a positive test

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. Red Sox jug Martin Prez has passed the positive COVID-19 test.

We found out too long ago, Red Sox manager Alex Cora said here at Tropicana Field on Monday. It went through the process, the protocol, the close contact, the people being tested, and everything else.

Prez, who started the season as a beginner but has been working with a Boston bull puppy in recent weeks, is the third player on the go and the fourth person to travel with the team for a positive.

Kik Hernndez’s test was positive on Friday. Christian Arroyo and Red Sox strength and fitness coach Kiyoshi Momose tested positive on Sunday.

We have to be patient, Cora said when asked about roster movements. There’s a set of taxis here. They need to be tested. We have to go through a lot and then decide who will add.

Connor Wong, Jack Lopez, Raynel Espinal, Phillips Valdez and John Schreiber are here in the taxi team.

Reliever Ryan Brasier has joined the team in St. Petersburg. He may be added to the list this week, but he is not a candidate to take the Prezs seat today.

Boston will open a four-game series against Rays on Monday at 7:10 p.m.

The Red Sox apparently needs starter Nick Pivetta to go deep on Monday. The bull is already taxed and now without Prez.
