This transfer window has been a tough spectacle for Liverpool fans as they all had to witness their title rivals make big financial moves and strengthen their squad significantly.
In contrast, the Reds’ lone signing returned in May, when they welcomed Ibrahima Konate at Anfield to help bolster the central defenders’ ranks that were badly drained last season.
While Manchester City only made one deal, it was Jack Grealish worth £100m. Chelsea have added rumors of Liverpool’s rumored Saul Niguez target to Romelu Lukaku’s £97.5m on deadline, and Manchester United have arguably generated the most interest ever, luring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford after spending so much on Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.
But despite the apparent frustration in the Reds’ fanbase, there is something worth remembering.
“If you look at the other teams, there are flaws in them,” Matt Addison said in a podcast exclusive to members of the Red Blood Club.
“Manchester City, for example, did not sign Harry Kane, which would have been a real game-changer. If they could have done that, it would have made them favorites for the Premier League and the Champions League.
“Jack Grealish is a brilliant player; he will add something to what they already have, but they already have four or five players who are very similar to him in terms of ability and quality, and they play in the same position.
“They have spent £100m, he will be a good player for them and help improve their team. But I don’t think this is a big game-changing signing.
“They’re probably missing a left-back too; maybe they could have done that with more attacking heart than Jack Grealish.”

Chelsea entered this season as European champions and will do everything in their power to win the Premier League title, especially since the re-signing of Lukaku.
However, an injury in defense could leave Thomas Tuchel’s side short.
Addison added: “I thought Chelsea were fantastic last weekend at Anfield. I was watching them play Liverpool, when it was 11 against 11, they were the team at the top.”
“Even 10 vs 11 they still looked dangerous at times and defended really well.
“But in the center of defence, they only have four (players) because they didn’t get Jules Conde. I think that’s an area that can quickly become a weakness for them. They play three players, so one or two hits there and they might look weaker.”

Of course, the talk was about Ronaldo’s return to Manchester United as he joined forces with former Real Madrid teammate Varane and rising English talent Sancho.
But their case could be in the bunker.
“Manchester United signed Cristiano Ronaldo, he made the headlines for obvious reasons, but that doesn’t hide the fact that I don’t think their coach is as good as the other top four coaches,” said Addison.
“I still think they need a better goalkeeper to win the Premier League and a better midfielder – maybe two to play in that role.
“I don’t think they will be contenders for the title. They certainly don’t have a good coach like Jurgen Klopp.”
