QAnon Shamans are a strange new legal defense: Trump is his first love

[ad_1]

Lawyer for Jacob QAnon Shaman Chansley said his client felt an attraction to former President Donald Trump similar to a first love.

Al Watkins made the bizarre claim at a news conference after Mr. Chansley pleaded guilty in federal court on Friday to obstructing justice for his role in the Jan. 6 insurgency.

He had an attraction to Trump that was no different than the first love a man might have for a girl, or a girl for a man, or a man for a man, Mr. Watkins said.

The first love always, always keeps a soft and tender place in the heart of the lover.

With his bellowing voice, viking-like horn, feather headdress and tattooed, shirtless frame, Chansley became notorious among the thousands of insurrectionists who rushed to the U.S. Capitol to protest the results of the 2020 Presidential election.

Since he was arrested shortly after the riots, he has been held without bail.

Mr. Watkins also argued that Chansley had experienced mental health problems and had been seduced by Mr. Trump.

Now Jake has taken a tremendous step toward doing our country right, Mr. Watkins said at the conference on Friday.

Speaking about the CNN lovers ’statement, anchor Jim Acosta asked: We can’t blame it all on love, can we? What a strange comment.

Sadly people who believe in Donald Trump will now pay a very personal cost, as they should, answers former Republican Congresswoman Barbara Comstock.

These were the criminal actions on the 6th of January.

Through his lawyer, Chansley tried to distance himself from QAnon’s conspiracy theory, which followers believe Mr. Trump was sent to stop a cab of Democrats and pedophile and cannibal celebrities. .

Before last week Mr. Watkins agreed that his client had claimed the Q movement. He requested that he no longer be identified as a QAnon Shaman.

The federal prosecutor is expected to seek a term of imprisonment between 44 months and a maximum of five years when Chansley is convicted.

Mr. Watkins suggested that he would argue that his client should be released at the time served.

In his heart and in his mind he is helping the president save the country, Mr. Watkins said.

Jacob Chansley had no plans … he was half naked, with a tattoo, on a winter day in DC. True, she has the best attire of the day, she has the best looks.

Psychological tests conducted while he was in prison showed that Chansley was suffering from temporary schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression and anxiety.

He was deemed mentally competent to face court charges.
