Arsenal have contacted Antonio Conte to replace Mikel Arteta with a Spaniard under pressure from Emirates.

The Gunners are currently at the bottom of the Premier League after losing all three of their season opener matches.

Arteta has been severely criticized because his parties have not found a network despite spending more money than any other European side this summer.

Conte has been linked to taking over Arteta and Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri claims Arsenal “have contacted” a former Chelsea boss to replace Arteta at the helm.

Conte is currently unemployed after leaving Inter Milan this summer.

He led the Nerazzurri to their first championship in more than a decade last season, but decided to leave the club because he was not given any guarantees that he could improve his team.

Arteta has now spent two years as Arsenal’s manager and delivered the FA Cup for the 2019-20 season, but the last campaign resulted in them not participating in the European competition for the first time in 25 years.

Palmer adds that despite Gunners being contacted, Conte is not interested in the role because he wants to lead Champions League football.

And Fabrizio Romano rejected claims that the North London side has an “agreement” with Conte.

He wrote TwitterThere is no prior agreement between Antonio Conte and Arsenal. Conte has no verbal / prior agreement with any club and is free. #AFC Federico Pastorello’s agent near Contea for years confirms to @Freddie_Paxton: “Rumors of Arsenal’s pre-agreement are not true.”
