The cryptocurrency market has plunged 5.3% in the past 24 hours as there were widespread losses over the weekend.
The overall market cap, at $ 2.17 trillion on Friday morning, fell to $ 2.03 billion at time of writing (7 a.m. in UK), even as the number of rapidly growing coins is approaching 12,000.
The market leader Bitcoin (BTC) fell to around $ 45,750, after reaching just over $ 48,000 on Friday. The original cryptocurrency is up 2% in seven days.
However, it is the only coin to have gained in value last week. The Ethereum smart contract blockchain platform (ETH), the world’s second most valuable crypto, has fallen 6% in the past 24 hours to $ 3,200 and is down 3% last Monday morning.
Cardano (ADA), in third place on the valuation board after a skyrocketing rise, fell from $ 2.43 on Friday to $ 2.18, losing 8% in the past 24 hours. The proof-of-stake blockchain platform is down 11% in seven days.
Binance Coin (BNB) fell from $ 423 Friday to $ 393 today and is down 2% in one week.
Tyk API management platform secures 25 million
There is now only a $ 3 billion difference between XRP and Solana in the battle for sixth place in the ratings rankings.
Ripples coin, at $ 1.10 on Friday, fell below $ 1 thanks to an 8% drop in the past 24 hours, and is down 8% in one week.
Below and now worth $ 43.3 billion, SOL has gone from around $ 150 on Friday to $ 145 today, with 12% in the past 24 hours. That’s 10% less in a week.
The Dogecoin meme (DOGE) lost nearly 4 cents at 22c and is down 8% on seven days.
Polkadot (DOT) fell from nearly $ 37 on Friday to less than $ 32 on Monday and was down 12% in one week.
