Munster is awaiting the decision of the citing officer to see if action will be taken against the Stormers over a biting allegation, but Johann van Graan will be determined that the incident does not impact their first trip outside of season when they head to Llanelli next Sunday.
Munster, at the top of the table with maximum points and just ahead of Ulster due to their better two-point score difference, is one of five of the 16 United Rugby Championship teams to have won their opening two games.
But after coming back from 15-0 to defeat the Stormers this weekend, Munster sets out on his journey to face a Scarlets side on Sunday that beat the Lions 36-13 this weekend.
The Munsters ‘preparations for this clash begin with an expected ruling on allegations by Munster hooker Niall Scannell that he was bitten by a Stormers player in preparation for Jean Kleyns’ try after 45 minutes.
Scannell was seen catching the attention of the assistant referee after he stood up, while captain Peter OMahony told referee Andy Brace that Scannell suffered a total bite during the incident.
Referee Brace said TV match official Brian McNeice could not find any evidence to support the allegation, but the case would be referred to the citing officer.
The citing officer has 48 hours after the match is over to assess the evidence and medical reports and, with that deadline passed on Monday evening, the result is expected to be made public soon.
Van Graan will wish that whatever the outcome doesn’t affect their preparations for their first trip of the season across the Irish Sea as they try to maintain their winning start to the campaign.
