The success of the first day progresses to wild cats in the ITA Central Regional

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Kansas State women’s tennis team made its mark on the first day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Central District at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex on Thursday (Oct. 21).

“Today was a good day. I’m happy with the clean day, so it was a good start,” said the head coach. Jordan Smith. “We started a little slow as we ran the business, but put ourselves in a good position as the tournament progressed.”

In the first ITA Central Regional, freshman Dinara Alloyarova won his first round match against Omahan Ines Absani in two sets 6-0, 6-1. Alloyarova continued her victory against Abyssan in a second-round two-round victory over Creighton’s Siri Kongara 6-4, 6-3.

“I’m glad Dinara survived the qualifiers and made it to the main draw, after which she was able to go back and win a big duel with Manam. It was very impressive for her,” Smith said.

Seniors after they have thrown in the first round of the pair Anna Turco and Rosanna Maffei took Caitlyn Sporing and Melissa Vizcardo from Southern Illinois-Edwardsville 6-2.

The retired Maria Linares and Karine-Marion Job won 6-3 Bradley’s Maria Bezmenova and Madalena Andraden.

This was a difficult duel for freshmen Florence Dekkers and senior Ioana Gheorghita, but the Wildcats won the SEMO match between Daniela Hlacikova and Myroslava Zelenchuk 7-6 (4).

The first-round throws were also Alloyarova and a second-year student Manami Ukita. The pair beat Bradley’s Kirstin Hailey and Sandra Maletin 6-0.

The 32 doubles round begins on the second day on Friday (October 22) at 8:00 a.m. CT. Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex at the University of Iowa. The doubles round is followed by 128 main drawing doubles and then a 64 main value doubles round.
