ANTWERP, Belgium (AP) -Jannik Sinner won his fourth round of the year championship and remained in the race for the ATP final with a convincing direct win over second-placed Diego Schwartzman at the European Open on Sunday.
The most successful Italian defeated his Argentine opponent 6-2, 6-2 in their first meeting.
It was Sinner’s Fifth Final of the season and Fifth Career Champion. Sinner, 20, became the youngest player to win five championships since Novak Djokovic’s 19-year-old in Estoril in 2007.
Sinner, who did not drop a series in the tournament, is chasing Hubert Hurkacz for eighth and last place in the ATP final.
Sinner shot the winners from all areas of the field, returned aggressively and never let Schwartzman return to the match.
Sinner played two encounter points and lost only the first two entry points.
Schwartzman, who had also not lost a lot in the tournament before the final, chased the first trophy of his career on a hard indoor court.
