College Football playoffs picture for week 11: Shuffle from the last two places is on

After four weeks, four College Football playoff teams will be revealed.

There should be movements after week 11. Michigan State, which opened the CFP in 3rd place in the original rankings, is sure to drop after losing 40-29 in Purdue. What is the CFP doing now with No. 6 Cincinnati? The Bearcats survived a victory 28-20 against Tulsa, which included two goal line fumbles in the final minutes.

Well. 9 Wake Forest lost 58-55 to North Carolina. Well. 5 Ohio State was scared in Nebraska. Even No. 2 Alabama felt the warmth of LSU.

The style points were outside the door, but the struggle for the top four places is getting more complicated. Sporting News will continue to sort these teams based on how competitors should rank, even if the CFP committee has other ideas.

So this is not Tuesday’s investment forecast; but more our opinion of what it should look like. It’s hard to see a team outside of this top 10 that deserves serious consideration in the playoffs.

Here’s our CFP playoffs:

Four College Football playoffs

1. Georgia (9-0)

Remaining schedule: Tennessee vs. Charleston Southern, Georgia Tech

Stetson Bennett threw a 35-yard TD pass to Arian Smith in 42 seconds in the first quarter, removing the drama from a 43-6 win over Missouri. Bennett (13/19, 255 yards, 2 TD) still controls the attacker well, and JT Daniels (7/11, 82 yards, TD, INT) saw extensive action in relief. It may not matter who the quarterback is. The defense has given only 6.6 points per game. Georgia will close the SEC schedule against Tennessee in Week 11, and an unbeaten Regular Season may be enough to qualify for the CFP no matter what happens in Atlanta in the SEC Championship.

2. Alabama (8-1)

Remaining schedule: vs. New Mexico State, vs. Arkansas, Auburn

LSU had three chances to take the lead in the fourth quarter against Crimson Tide, but Alabama came to a halt every time and ended up winning 20-14. Bryce Young finished 302 assists in his sixth 300-yard game of the season, and Jameson Williams had 10 catches at 160 yards. Alabama should stick to No. 2, and all roads will lead to the SEC championship match against Georgia. Alabama can build momentum at home for the next two weeks before the Iron Bowl.

3. Oklahoma (9-0)

Remaining schedule: Baylor vs. Iowa State, Oklahoma State

We know that the committee made a blatant statement by placing Sooners in 8th place in the original rankings. Here they should rank. Oklahoma is still unbeaten after a week, and despite five one-point wins against FBS schools, the Sooners still have a +168 points difference. Caleb Williams also has a pitcher rating of 203.7, and the attack has averaged 48.5 points per game since he became a quarterback. He’s a differentiator on this team, and this correction in the rankings is coming.

4. Cincinnati (9-0)

Remaining schedule: In South Florida, vs. SMU, in East Carolina

The Bearcats survived Tulsa in a wild goal at home. The Bearcats won 28-20 and needed a fumble at the finish line in the fourth minute in the last minute to seal the victory. Star runner Jerome Ford left because of a left leg injury, and Cincinnati didn’t get the style points many are looking for against that American Athletic Conference. Good news? Cincinnati did not lose. Oregon is likely to rise to No. 3 in the actual rankings, but Michigan State’s loss combined with Ohio State’s ho-hum performance against Nebraska doesn’t hurt. The road to the playoffs remains open, especially if Notre Dame continues to win, but the next two teams need a second defeat.

5. Oregon (8-1)

Remaining schedule: vs. Washington State, Utah, vs. Oregon State

Ducks ’grip on the final CFP spot is weak. The win against Ohio State is acknowledged, but the loss to Stanford is becoming a bigger eye ache due to the Cardinals ’3-6 record. Oregon still handled things in Washington with a victory in the 26-16 key Pac-12 North showdown. Running Travis Dye was a star at 28 211 yards, and quarterback Anthony Brown (63 yards, TD) is still a factor in the running game. Oregon is still the best bet to beat Pac-12, but Cincinnati also has a top10 win and hasn’t lost yet. This debate is far from over.

6. Ohio State (8-1)

Remaining schedule: vs. Purdue, vs. Michigan State, Michigan

The Buckeyes can rise to 4th place in the actual rankings, and they can safely keep themselves in the top four by winning the fifth consecutive Big Ten championship. Should the state of Ohio be concerned after the 26-17 intimidation in Nebraska? CJ Stroud fed 405 yards and two TDs, but he also threw two selections in assists. The Buckeyes had a nearly 2-1 feed / run ratio. The close call left Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s fractional performance with 15 catches at 240 yards and TD Garrett Wilson out. It’s a series of uneven performances for the Buckeyes, and they try to get back on track at home against Purdue.

7. Michigan State (8-1)

Remaining schedule: vs. Maryland, Ohio State, vs. Penn State

Purdue strikes again. The Spartans are the latest among the top five to lose to the Boilermakers 40-29. Spartans ’passing defense was revealed against Purdue. Quarterback Aidan O’Connell fed 536 yards and three TDs, and now Michigan State has to win the Big Ten East series. The Spartans have one of the top 10 wins against Michigan, but the hopes of a playoffs land on a trip to Ohio State on November 20th. Michigan State pulled it off in 2015. They are heavier underdogers this time.

8. Michigan (8-1)

Remaining schedule: Penn State, vs. Maryland, Ohio State

Michigan recovered from the collapse of the state of Michigan and defeated Indiana convincing 29-7. Spartans ’loss to Purdue was a bonus, and if Ohio State beat Michigan State, the Wolverines will return to the Big Ten East. Blake Corum left injured in the first quarter, but Hassan Haskins rose by 168 yards and TD. Cade McNamara played flawless football with 168 yards and two TDs, and Wolverines ’defense got soaring back against the Hoosiers. Will it travel to Penn State, where Michigan has lost its last two matches?

9. Notre Dame (8-1)

Remaining schedule: Virginia vs. Georgia Tech, Stanford

The Irish are still a partner in the Cincinnati playoffs. Notre Dame won the fleet with a 34-6 blow; Ireland’s fourth consecutive victory for the Bearcats after a defeat. Jack Coan finished 23/29 with 269 yards and a TD, and Kyren Williams rushed for 95 yards and a pair of TDs. Notre Dame’s early season wins from Purdue and Wisconsin now look better, but the independent position and lack of a conference championship match is still a problem for Cincinnat, along with the loss.

10. Oklahoma State (8-1)

Remaining schedule: vs. TCU, Texas Tech, vs. Oklahoma

The Cowboys may be the main line for teams with an acute opportunity to enter the Common Fisheries Policy. Oklahoma State won an awkward road game in West Virignia 24-3, and they have amassed three wins against the teams that finished in the Big 12 at the time. If it didn’t slip against Iowa State, the Cowboys could place in a row with rival Oklahoma. The key over the last two weeks is defense, which allowed three points in the last two games and limited the Mountaineers to 133 yards.
