SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KYMA, KECY) – California Governor Gavin Newsom is back in political circles after being criticized when he chose to take his kids to Halloween instead of discussing climate change with world leaders in Scotland.
The Democratic governor’s comments, delivered at an economic summit in Monterey, came after increased media coverage and criticism from Republicans about his plight and what he was doing.
On Tuesday, Newsom responded by saying his absence was nothing more than a chance to rejuvenate with his family after a frenzied three-year tenure that included an unprecedented pandemic, record-breaking wildfire destruction and the fight for his political life in only the second governor-election recall in state history.
His last public event was on October 27 when he received a coronavirus booster shot and he will now be visiting a COVID-19 and flu vaccination clinic in Los Angeles County on Wednesday to highlight the continued state efforts to increase vaccination rates as the winter season approaches.
