The fashion industry is growing rapidly and it is quite difficult to predict what will happen in the future. A new fashion innovation that has taken the limelight and surprised us all is the ‘unisex hijab’.

Global fashion brand United Colors of Benetton has launched a new range of traditional Islamic hijab unisex headwear in collaboration with Italian rapper from Tunisia, Ghali Amdouni.

The product is priced at £29.95 (Rs 3,000) and is available in black, yellow, red and green.

The new outfit is described as, ”Unisex hijab with stretch fabric. Small clashing print on the left side that combines the Benetton logo with Ghali’s G. This accessory is included in the “United Colors of Ghali” capsule collection, made by Ghali.

The rapper also shared several photos of herself wearing the unisex hijab, which was unveiled at Milan Fashion Week earlier this year, on her Instagram page.

The hijab is a religious veil worn by many Muslim women in public and usually covers the hair, head and chest.

The 28-year-old singer reportedly said, “Hijab is a unique piece of clothing that I really wanted. There was no refusal from the company to include it in the collection. When I was a child, I was bullied at school, no one represented me, while now it’s normal.

The rapper added, “I’m tired of hearing how everything Arab or Tunisian is associated with something negative. When I was a child, my mother was afraid that I would go out with my Arab friends, she preferred that I have Italian friends. Now I think it’s important to say that this diversity is a plus, that’s what makes me unique.”

From appreciating to criticizing new innovations, garments have become a new topic of discussion and have received mixed responses from netizens.
