No other earthquake was reported in eastern Turkey

The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) said an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale occurred in Koprukoy province, northeast of Erzurum on November 22.

No injuries or damages were reported due to the tremor, which occurred for the second time in a week at the same location.

The earthquake, which occurred at 11:31 am local time, occurred at a depth of 5.0 km according to initial reports and was felt by residents in other provinces in the region, including Agri in the east and Diyarbakir in the south.

On November 19, a 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck Koprukoi, causing a few dilapidated buildings to collapse and four people were injured.

Speaking to reporters, Erzurum Governor Okay Memish said an aftershock occurred in Koprukoy, but the buildings damaged in the previous earthquake had already been evacuated.

Selahattin Karsli, director of Erzurum province, said he sees the benefit of his previous warning to citizens “not to stay at home.”
