JoJo Siwa Wears Dress and Heels for “First Time in My Life” at the AMA

JoJo Shiva showed up at the American Music Awards last night, ditched her glittery hair band and put on a dress and heels for the first time.

“I’m wearing a dress and heels for the first time in my life!” JoJo tells We Weekly. “When I found out I was going to the AMAs, I was like, ‘Uh oh, what am I going to wear?’ I go through this transition while active Dance with the stars, where I went from dressing as usual to looking more mature. And I was like, I want to get out of my comfort zone. Today, we went for dresses. ”

JoJo chose a pretty black dress with sheer panels and borrowed a pair of heels from her Dance with the stars pro partner Jenna Johnson. She also got her nails done for the event, saying, “I used to hate getting my nails done, absolutely never will. And then when Dance with the stars come, I started to finish it. And this nail is actually for our performance which we will do in tomorrow’s final. It’s special.”

JoJo recently broke up with his girlfriend in the middle of filming DWTS but was told Tonight’s Entertainment that the show (which aired its last night) was a welcome distraction. “There are days when the only thing I want to do is go to practice, dance with Jenna, and take my mind off everything,” she said. “It was something that, through the breakup and heartbreak, I was so grateful that I had. Dance with the stars was my little outlet of happiness for the past 10 weeks, so I’m really grateful for that.”
