Biden’s anti-Trump approach to racial justice flashpoints

But Rittenhouse was found to have acted in self-defense by the jury considering his cases. And the Biden administration has so far failed to push police reform through Congress, where bipartisan comprehensive legislation has stalled.

The left is bored. The breakdown of negotiations in Congress only added to their frustration with the inaction, raising calls to change the filibuster. Although the White House said the president plans to sign executive orders to target law enforcement overreach, those will only apply to federal law enforcement, which makes up about 5 percent of total policing force in the country, according to Pasco.

Cliff Albright, co-founder of Black Voters Matter, said Biden is “certainly not acting fast. Not only in terms of the law but also about the executive actions he can take.

Their sense of urgency echoed in the reactions of the left to the judgments of Rittenhouse and Arbery.
