New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal accused his Punjab counterpart Charanjit Singh Channi of sand theft, saying the Punjab wanted to know if it owned an illegal sand operation.
Claiming that the Aam Aadmi party will end illegal sand mining in the state once in power, Kejriwal said he has seen in recent days that illegal sand mining is taking place in Punjab CM constituency , Chamkaur Sahib.
If this is happening in his own constituency, it’s hard to think he doesn’t know it, the Delhi CM and AAP national official told Amritsar.
The Punjab cannot progress if the CM is a sand thief, Kejriwal said.
“It should be sounded and FIR registered”
Kejriwal also asked if Channi had a partnership or was protecting the sand mafias.
“The truth must come out. It should be probed and FIR registered, ”he said.
Kejriwal’s statement comes after AAP leader Raghav Chadha on Monday accused Channi of lying and misleading citizens of the state about illegal sand mining in his constituency.
Chadha said he denounced illegal mining activities in Channi constituency, Chamkaur Sahib, on December 4.
Instead of taking action against the sand mafia, Channi visited a site in Rupnagar and claimed there was no illegal mining, the AAP Punjab co-head said.
“No foreigner would be allowed to sound the baseless alarm in Punjab”
“Channi lied about visiting a sand mine in the village of Jindapur, when he was 40 km from this site. Why is Chief Minister Channi lying? Being in such a respectful position, is it gracious of her to lie? ” He asked.
Speaking to the press, Chadha alleged that the sand was not sold at a fixed price of 5.50 rupees per cubic foot and that the Mafia was still operating.
Dismissing Chadha’s allegations, Channi on Sunday warned AAP leaders in Delhi that no “foreigners” would be allowed to raise an “unfounded alarm” in the state.
