ATP’s Tennis Data Innovations hires David Lampitt as its first CEO and others

David Lampitt has been named the first CEO of Tennis Data Innovations (TDI). The Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and ATP Media are a joint venture that is the tour’s global sales, broadcast production and distribution division.

After nearly a decade, Lampitt arrives at Sportradar, a provider of data and broadcast solutions, where he most recently served as CEO of sports content and partnerships. Prior to this role, he was CEO of the English Football Association in Portsmouth and for seven years as Chief Financial Officer of the Football Association (FA). He also led Supporters Direct, a non-profit organization that promotes good governance in the sport.

Hiring Lampitt is the first senior management hiring since TDI was founded. Founded in late 2020, the TDI has been created to manage the combined ATP Tour and ATP Challenger Tour match data rights, as well as certain media streaming rights, to improve fan engagement and make tennis more accessible to digital audiences.

As CEO of TDI, Lampitt will be responsible for overseeing centralized management, product innovation, and the utilization of tennis data in several downstream markets, including betting and performance analysis. He is working in London and will officially take up his new post 1st January 2022.

In the future, TDI has outlined a number of strategic objectives, including the commercial performance, sales strategy, integrity and compliance of the data and databases it oversees, and the possible future integration of data resources from other tennis stakeholders.

“I look forward to building the TDI team and the joint mission of ATP and ATP Media to provide the best experience for tennis fans around the world.”

Andrea Gaudenzi, ATP’s chairman and board member of TDI, added: “Tennis’s biggest growth potential is in the media and data. Because ATP Media is already successfully dedicated to the media side of the ATP Tour, TDI was created for the data side and to scale revenue on behalf of our members. ”

Elsewhere, Major League Baseball (MLB) has been tapped Bill Morningstar run MLB network as chairman of the channel, according to the Sports Business Journal (SBJ). Morningstar will replace Rob McGlarry, who resigned last month.

Broadcasting Service Provider EMG Group has promoted Peter Bates As President and CEO of the United Kingdom and Chief Strategy Officer.

Ata Football, a women’s football media company, has appointed Ashlee Fontes-Comber as Director of Market Development and Kimberly Johnson as a leader in digital products.

François Pesenti, The former boss of RMC Sport, has joined the French Rugby Union Club RC Toulonnaiswhere he leads strategic development and marketing.
