ANN ARBOR, me. – Last week, Michigan football returned to practice as they prepared for their first-ever chance at the College Football playoffs.
While the challenges Georgia poses may seem daunting, given that the Bulldogs were considered unbeatable – you know, before Alabama defeated them – Wolverines is excited about the opportunity and thinks the coaches have a good plan to get them ready.
“We want to get back to it little by little. (Thursday) we went, it was like our Tuesday practice – we’re pama, ”said third-year defender Takla Christopher Hinton. – The coaches have a great plan for us not to kill us early, but to get us in shape, so we will be in a fresh game in a couple of weeks. I really like their plan, I trust their plan, I trust the coaches all year long. ”
In preparation for playing in the night heat of Miami Gardens, the team has been practicing indoors to get used to before traveling to Florida on December 26th. An added consequence is that the team got a break of just over a week. A Big Ten Championship game to help players like Blake Corum, who has been injured since early November.
While he himself admits he’s still not 100%, he feels that his free time helped tremendously clear the air between the regular season and the aftermath, while helping him and others be healthier.
“We’re locked up. We had a nice little week, refresh our minds, refresh our bodies,” Corum said. “Now we are back, locked up and focused on Georgia. Either watching their movies, watching plays, plays that work, and just getting ready for this Orange Bowl. “
However, don’t expect the team to suddenly change things now that it’s possible to play two more games.
As Corum points out, they ended up at this point by doing things the way they have been doing all year, it makes no sense to suddenly do things differently just because it’s a playoff game.
“The goal is still the same. The goal was to get this far, the goal is to continue,” Corum said. “Our focus is the same, our goal is the same. We still treat everything the same way.
Nonetheless, it’s an attack by Michigan, leading the nation 17 with more than 50 yards in play, and Georgia’s No. 1 defense.
In recent weeks, we’ve seen a lot more imagination about the Wolverine attack, Donovan Edwards ’use of Maryland, which created AJ Henning’s final race against Ohio State, which created Edwards’ throw-down in Big Ten. Championship game.
Do offensive players feel that coordinator Josh Gattis has something special deposited in this and any game next week?
“I really wouldn’t say he’ll save it, we’ll just practice it and use it when the opportunity comes,” said third-year executor Mike Sainristil. – The opponent we are playing may not have the right defense so we can run into it, so we will keep practicing it, we will keep it in the game book. And as soon as the opportunity arises, we will seize it. “
The level of tension in Schembechler Hall is palpable. As third-year cornerback DJ Turner says, this team is spitting out the opportunity to showcase their talents on the national stage.
“We’re energetic, refreshed and ready to go again.”
The Capital One Orange Bowl kicks off at 7:30 pm EST on Dec. 31 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
