Sri Lankan beat Bhanuka Rajapaksa announced on Wednesday that he would retire internationally immediately. Rajapaksa said in a letter of resignation handed over to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) that the decision to resign was made after taking into account his family responsibilities.

“I have very carefully considered my position as a player, a husband, and I am making this decision in anticipation of paternity and related family responsibilities,” she said in her resignation letter, according to Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC). “He also wished Sri Lanka Cricket continued to succeed in its future endeavors,” the SLC statement read. Rajapaksa represented Sri Lanka in both ODI and T20I.
