After a slow start to Monday’s MLK day, the Boston Celtics came to life in the second half. They reduced their moves, moving from ten in the first two quarters to four in the last two squares, constantly attacking the basket, scoring 26 points in the goal, and getting stops and passes, leading to 12 points in the hands.
Late in the third quarter, the Celtics leveled off and went into the 8-2 series to close the frame while taking their first lead in the game. They then took control in the fourth quarter.
Here’s what stood out from Boston’s victory over the New Orleans Pelicans. A win of 23-22 brings the 10th place finishers in the East to a game of over 0.500.
Home team slow start
The Celtics were not ready for the game, which ended at 12:30 a.m. EST. After Jaylen Brown’s layout, with the first quarter remaining at 4:53, they didn’t score at the end of the frame. Celtics Level Up Late
The talent gap between the Celtics and the Pelicans allowed the home team to wait until the end of the third quarter to improve the quality of the game.
With 33.8 seconds left in the third quarter, Dennis Schroder cleared the third, raising Boston to 69-67 with his first lead. He and Tatum finished the third quarter with an 8-2 run that helped bring the snowball to victory for the Celtics.
Schroder scored 18 of 23 points in the second half and fired 7/11 from the field, including 2/3 from behind the arc, and had five of his nine passes, three of his five rebounds, and failed in the final. two-quarters and recorded a grade of +19 plus-minus. He was in the match +21.
Although it felt quiet, Jaylen Brown scored 12 of 23 points in the second half. His score came from 8/17 shots, including 3/7 (42.9 percent) of the three, went 4/4 on the line and grabbed eight rebounds.
