The chief executive of Suncor Energy Inc. said the company needs to do more to improve workplace safety after a truck accident earlier this month resulted in the death of a contractor at the company’s Base Mine site near Fort McMurray, Alta. Mark Little, CEO of the Calgary-based company, called the fatal accident, along with two other operational incidents in December that negatively impacted Suncor’s production volumes, “unacceptable.”

WestJet Airlines Inc. WestJet Airlines Inc. said Tuesday it will cancel 20 percent of its flights in February, less than three weeks after announcing flight reductions of 15 percent for January. The move marks a response to “government barriers” amid the Omicron variant, which has also impacted staffing levels, the Calgary-based airline said.
