MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The University of Wisconsin has banned from all sporting events an individual accused of heinous anti-Asian activities during Tuesday’s men’s basketball game against Northwestern.
In a tweet sent late Thursday morning, the university condemned the person’s actions and applauded North West officials for kicking him out of the Welsh-Ryan Arena. He also said the man would no longer be allowed to buy tickets to college games.
He is no longer welcome at UW athletics events, UW said.
The man’s name has not been released, nor whether he was a student or not.

On Tuesday, the Badgers Athletics Twitter account posted its own rebuke of the actions shared in a video apparently posted to TikTok, which was later captured and tweeted by Xavier Sanchez on his account.
We are deeply troubled by this behavior and find it heinous and disgusting, the tweet read in part. This is not a representation of what it means to be a badger. The athletic department then called out racism or discrimination and also applauded Northwestern for kicking him out.

The video in question shows a man dressed in red making an obscene gesture and yelling at a group of Wildcat fans some of whom appeared to be Asian Americans before grabbing the corners of their eyes in a notoriously racist gesture. It goes on to show Northwestern personnel confronting him and authorities escorting him out of the building.
