WILMINGTON – Always meant to be together, Donald and Janice were married for 68 years and left this life within a day of one another. Janice passed unexpectedly on April 5, 2022 as a result of an accident while visiting her husband in the hospital. Donald passed the following day, April 6, from complications of Covid 19.

Janice, 88, was born in Jersey City, NJ to the late Beatrice and Robert Weber. She grew up in Jersey City and spent a long period of time with family in Throggs Neck, Bronx, NY. Janice graduated from Dickinson High School, Jersey City, and worked for the Royal Insurance Company in New York City. She later earned her Real Estate License working for Meyer Real Estate, Red Oaks Mill, NY.

Donald, 88, was born in the Bronx, NY, to the late Adelaide and George MacDonald Fox. He graduated from Samuel Gompers High School, Bronx, and joined the Navy in 1952. Donald went on to join IBM, where he enjoyed a successful 34-year career, in technical support services and as a software engineer, retiring in 1991.

They married in 1953, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Bronx, NY, while Don was in the Navy.

Don and Janice raised their family in Brentwood, NY; Marlboro, NJ, and Poughkeepsie, NY. In Poughkeepsie, they were active members of Christ Episcopal Church. Upon retirement they chose to move to Sneads Ferry, NC, just north of where they had vacationed with their family on Topsail Island, for many years.

They loved the North Carolina weather where Don was able to spend time on his golf game. They bowled in a weekly league for many years in Wilmington.

They joined Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Hampstead and moved to Marsh Oaks, Wilmington in 1999 to be closer to their church and daughter, Suzanne and family. Holy Trinity became their “extended family” where they served on the Vestry and as Junior Wardens. Janice was active in many organizations of the church including the Outreach Ministry who provides creative and meaningful ways to service those in need, and the Episcopal Church Women’s group. Don played the handbells and they both sang in the choir which brought them great joy.

They loved to travel and took numerous trips to Australia to visit with their daughter, Nancy, and her family.

They are survived by their three daughters-Nancy Fox and son-in-law, Bruce Arnold of Sydney, Australia; Diane Fox of Neptune, NJ; Suzanne Fox Popper of Wilmington, NC and their three cherished grandsons Ryan Popper, Carson Popper and Robbie Fox Arnold. Don is survived by his brother George Fox of Riegelwood, NC, nieces and nephews; and predeceased by brother and sister, Roger and Ruth. Janice is also survived by her step-brother, Robert “Corky” Corcoran and his wife, Shirley of North Middletown, NJ. They leave behind a lifetime of long friendships and will be dearly missed by their cat, Boots.

A memorial service will be held on May 21, 2022 at 2pm at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation be made to the Holy Trinity Outreach Program or the Holy Trinity Endowment Fund, 107 Deerfield Dr., Hampstead, NC 28443; or your favorite charity.
