An earthquake of magnitude 4.0 was recorded at East Garo hills of Meghalaya during the early hours of Monday, the National Center for Seismology informed.
Tweeting about the incident, the Center said that an earthquake of magnitude:4.0 occurred on Monday at 6.32 am at latitude 25.68 and longitude: 90.60 and a depth 10 Km. The National Institute located the earthquake to have occurred 43 kilometers east-northeast of Tura in the northeastern state.
An earthquake of magnitude 3.5 was also recorded in Megahalaya on Sunday evening. According to the nodal agency, the earthquake was recorded at 8.37 pm at latitude 25.33 and longitude 91.91 with a depth of 10 kilometers. The earthquake was located 19 kilometers east-northeast of Cherrapunjee and 27 kilometers of Shillong.
