Sidley Austin Hires Away Goodwin Hong Kong Private Equity Partner for Singapore

Sidley Austin has hired a Hong Kong-based Goodwin Procter private equity partner for its Singapore base.

Daniel Lindsey, who specializes in private equity deals, joins the firms partnership in Singapore this month. He joined Goodwin in 2018 from Kirkland which he joined in 2016 from Linklaters. He has been based in Asia since 2012 having previously been based in London.

The hire comes weeks after Goodwin, which is preparing its own Singapore office launch, brought on Kirkland & Ellis heavy hitter, Daniel Dusek.

Earlier this year, a Goodwin team including Lindsey advised Hong Kong-backed private equity investor, FountainVest Partners, on the acquisition of China F&B Group from Swedish investment firm EQT Partners. Lindsey was also part of a Goodwin team that separately advised ELEVATE, a supply chain services provider, on a stake acquisition in global assurance provider LRQA.

Charlie Wilson, Sidleys Singapore co-managing partner and head of the firms M&A and private equity practice in Asia Pacific, said in a statement that the firm was enhancing its leveraged finance offering to clients in Singapore and the Asia Pacific region, adding that Lindsey will work closely with our transactional practices in Singapore, and in particular our private equity team, on financial sponsor mandates.

With Lindsey onboard, Sidley will count 11 partners in its Singapore office. The firm recently lost its veteran life sciences and investigation partner, Yuet Ming Tham, who took a team to join McDermott Will & Emery.

Goodwin also counts 11 partners in Hong Kong though Dusek is not yet listed on the firms website.
