Here are the Nominees for the first Charlotte Observer high school football player of the week of the 2022 season.
Readers can vote as often as they want until Friday, when a Winner will be announced.

POTW Nominees
Mason Avery, West Lincoln: in a 33-14 win over North Lincoln, Avery ran 24 times for 217 yards and four touchdowns. He also scored a defensive touchdown and had six tackles.
Carmelo Bess, Ashbrook: in a 46-12 win over Concord, Bess returned a punt 55 yards for a touchdown and ran for an 85-yard score.
Tomar Bivens, Mallard Creek: Bivens ran for 96 yards and had a 17-yard reception in a 21-3 win over Mallard Creek. They scored two touchdowns.
Anshon Camp, Chambers: threw for 246 yards and two touchdowns and ran for more than 100 in a 28-14 win over Cardinal Gibbons, the No. 1 ranked team in North Carolina in preseason.
Jadyn Davis, Providence Day: top 10 national Recruit had a great debut for Providence Day, completing 15-of-20 passes for 344 yards and five touchdowns in a 42-7 win over Legion Collegiate.
Dymere Edwards, Cox Mill: Chambers transfer had a strong debut in Cabarrus County, completing 18-of-25 passes for 275 yards and four touchdowns in a 59-25 win over Hopewell.
Tyler Green, Cannon School: In a 42-26 win over North Raleigh Christian, Green completed 20-of-27 passes for 430 yards and four touchdowns. Former Cox Mill star Colin Reese caught eight passes for 190 yards.
Nolan Hauser, Hough: The MaxPreps preseason All-American kicked three field goals in a 27-24 loss to SC power Dutch Fork. Hauser hit from 27-, 39- and 48-yards.
Caden Haywood, Hickory Ridge: in a 45-0 win over Hunter Huss, Haywood had a sparkling debut. He completed 14-of-19 passes for 221 yards and three touchdowns, including five passes for 125 yards and two scores to UNC commit Christian Hamilton.
Elijah Holmes, Olympic: senior led Olympic to a big 49-14 win over Sun Valley Friday. He completed 14-of-17 passes for 302 yards and three touchdowns. They ran three times for 29 yards and another score.
Jawarn Howell, Mooresville: ran for 162 yards and three touchdowns on 17 carries, averaging 9.52 yards per attempt, in a 44-28 win over Davie County.
Jadon Moore, South Rowan: made a 44-yard field goal in the final minute to lift his team to a 9-6 win over Parkland Friday, and the win matched the teams win total from the 2021 season.
Tanner Moore, Alexander Central: 12 carries for 156 yards and three touchdowns in a 33-15 win over Hickory.
Wesley Thompson, Maiden: senior quarterback, making his debut for The Best Little Football Town In The World, didn’t disappoint. In a 50-7 win over Fred T. Foard, Thomson completed 9-of-13 passes for 193 yards and three touchdowns, including five passes for 120 yards and a score to UNC commit Chris Culliver.
Luke Wilson, East Burke: in a 28-0 win over Patton, Wilson had 13 tackles, including two for a loss and a forced fumble.
