Shane Beamer shoulders blame for ‘horsecrap’ performance in blowout loss to Georgia

Shane Beamer and the Gamecocks had a rough game on Saturday, and after South Carolina lost to Georgia, 48-7. The Gamecocks had 3 interceptions, and were outgained by Georgia 547-306.

The Gamecocks dropped to 1-2, and 0-2 SEC and host Charlotte next week. Beamer said the Gamecocks had a bunch of young defensive backs out there and turned guys free, but they didn’t look like a well-coached team, and everyone has got to play better and coach better.

Beamer at his post-game press conference apologized to the fans for a poor performance, and added that he blamed himself for a “horsecrap” job of getting the Gamecocks ready. He also noted that South Carolina played the No. 1 defense in the country.

However, Beamer said they practically played the entire freshman class on defense late in the game and saw some good things from them.

Shane Beamer: I want to apologize to our fans that were out there today. That was a poor performance, to say the least.

Thanks them for showing up as he asked them to during Tuesday’s presser. Blames himself for doing a “horsecrap” job of getting the team ready.

Beamer: Sense any give up in the locker room? “Hell no. We’re 1-2. Get out of here with that.” #Gamecocks

Do you sense any give-up in the locker room?

“Hell no. What kind of question is that? No!”

The five who did miss today—Huntley, Roderick, Cam Smith, Spaulding, Rucker—should be back next week. https://t.co/HlTbJ9wCEd

Shane Beamer asked if he feels any give up in his team.

Hello no. Were 1-2. We’ve got a bunch of fighters in there. Get out of here with that. #Gamecocks pic.twitter.com/W4SwQzouG8

Beamer: Those third down runs early that didn’t work, he told Satterfield they would go for it on fourth down, so they had two downs to work with, they’ve got to be better on third down. #Gamecocks
