Premier Tennis League: Bengaluru Spartans oust Finecab Hyderabad Strikers from the top of the table on day two

Before the matches started from day 2, Punjab Tigers co-owner Raminder Singh shared his thoughts on his team’s performance as he said, “I am amazed to see the strong performances from Tigers from day 1. The match round of the second day of the Premier Tennis League started with the highly anticipated match between Finecab Hyderabad Strikers and Bengaluru Spartans. The match started in the women’s singles category with Bengaluru Spartans’ Karman Kaur Thandi taking on Finecab Hyderabad Strikers’ Conny Perrin.

The game ended 14-6 in favor of Conny Perrin. It was followed by the men’s singles series where Siddharth Rawat of Bengaluru Spartans took on Nikki Poonacha of Finecab Hyderabad Strikers. The tie ended in favor of Bengaluru Spartans as they finished 12-8.

Bengaluru Spartans’ Siddharth Rawat and Vishnu Vardhan played Finecab Hyderabad Strikers’ Nikki Poonacha and Sriram Balaji in the men’s doubles series which ended in a 10-all draw. Bengaluru Spartans’ Vishnu Vardhan and Karman Kaur Thandi came up short against Finecab Hyderabad Strikers’ Sriram Balaji and Conny Perrin as the match ended 13-7 in favor of Bengaluru Spartans.

Bengaluru Spartans won the match by 41 points while Finecab Hyderabad Strikers collected 39 points. Ahead of the match against Gujarat Panthers, Pune Jaguars mentor Radhika Tulpule talked about how much she is enjoying the league this season and the elite level of tennis she gets to watch.

He said, “Boys and girls, they are both playing really well. We, Pune Jaguars, started by playing probably tougher teams. But we were 40 all yesterday and that was pretty good. Now we want to win. as many future matches as possible. Today I believe , that singles and mixed doubles will make the difference for us. We had an exceptional performance yesterday, so the performances have been good so far, I hope we can continue that.”

The second match was between Gujarat Panthers and Pune Jaguars which was a tight contest. Gujarat Panthers’ Ankita Raina drew with Pune Jaguars’ Rutuja Bhosale as the game ended in 10 overs. It was followed by Manish Sureshkumar of the Gujarat Panthers in the men’s singles against Arjun Khade of Pune Jaguars which ended 12-8 in favor of Pune Jaguars.

Manish Sureshkumar and Divij Sharan of Gujarat Panthers took on Arjun Khade and Vijay Kumar Prashanth of Pune Jaguars in the men’s doubles series which ended in a draw with the score tied at 10.

The final tie of the game was in the Mixed Doubles category, where Ankita Raina and Divij Sharan of Gujarat Panthers defeated Pune Jaguars’ Rutuja Bhosale and Vijay Kumar Prashanth by 13-7. At the end of the match, Pune Jaguars had emerged victorious as they had scored 45 points while Gujarat Panthers scored only 35 points.

After the second round of matches, Gujarat Panthers owner, Ramku Patgir shared his thoughts on his team’s performance as he said, “Yesterday we had a great run and started positively. We were up by 10 points so that was a really good boost and I hope we can keep the momentum going. From the table regardless, we’re sure we’ll come back and make sure we’re at least in the top four so we can play the semi-finals and be in the final.”

The third match was between Chennai Stallions and Punjab Tigers. Ekaterina Kazionova of Chennai Stallions and Diana Marcinkevica of Punjab Tigers started the match. The game ended 11-9 in favor of Diana Marcinkevica.

In the men’s singles, two international stars faced each other in Mathias Bourge of Chennai Stallions and Malek Jazir of Punjab Tigers in a match that ended 12-8 in favor of Mathias Bourge. The draw was followed by the men’s doubles.

Mathias Bourge and Anirudh Chandrashekhar of Chennai Stallions took on Denis Istomin and Malek Jazir of Punjab Tigers, with Chennai Stallions winning the tie 13-7. The match ended in mixed doubles where Ekaterina Kazionova and Anirudh Chandershekhar represented Chennai Stallions and beat Punjab Tigers Denis Istomini and Diana Marcinkevica 14-6 after the tie ended. Chennai Stallions beat Punjab Tigers as the match ended 48-32 in favor of Stallions.

The final match of Day 2 was between Delhi Binny’s Brigade and Mumbai Leon’s Army. Sowjanya Bavisetti of Delhi Binny’s Brigade took on Valeriya Strakhova of Mumbai Leon Army, Valeriya coming out on top with a score of 14-6. Mohamed Aziz Dougaz of Delhi Binny’s Brigade lost to Ramkumar Ramanathan of Mumbai Leon Army as the tie ended 11-9 in favor of Mumbai Leon Army.

Mohamed Aziz Dougaz and Siddhanth Banthia of Delhi Binny’s Brigade were up against Ramkumar Ramanathan and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan of Mumbai Leon Army. The men’s double ended in Mumbai Leon Army’s favor as the tie ended 11-9.

The day ended in the Mixed Doubles category, where Siddhanth Banthia and Sowjanya Bavisetti represented Delhi Binny’s Brigade, who lost to Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Valeriya Strakhova of Mumbai Leon Army in a 11-9 tie.

Mumbai Leon Army defeated Delhi Binny’s Brigade as the match finished 49-31 to end Day 2 of Premier Tennis League Season 4.

The second day saw some successful clashes on the ground at Pune’s Balewadi Stadium. There were also some changes in the standings. Bengaluru Spartans jumped to the top of the table as they had amassed 88 points by the end of the second day. They are closely followed by Finecab Hyderabad Strikers who are second in the table with 87 points.

Pune Jaguars are in the third position after the second day’s matches with 85 points with Mumbai Leon Army with 84 points. Chennai Stallions and Gujarat Panthers are 5th and 6th in the table after Day 2 with 80 points each.

Delhi Binny’s Brigade is 7th in the table with 71 points. Punjab Tigers had slipped to the foot of the table as the latest batch of the Premier Tennis League managed to score 65 points by the end of the second day.

As the second day showed that anything can happen in the fast-paced Premier Tennis League, all the teams understand that everything must be played on the third day on December 9, 2022.
