‘Racist Karen’ punches Mexican woman in sidewalk altercation

An altercation between a woman and her family and a Karen that resulted in ‘Karen’ being arrested recently went viral after being posted on TikTok.

In the original video, TikToker Bianca Figueroa (@esposatoxica) stands on a sidewalk next to another woman, later identified as Sandra “Sandy” Jean Allen. Allen yells “help” and “fire” before wondering why the interaction is being filmed.

She then asks if someone should call ISIS, later correcting herself to ICE (US Immigration and Customs Enforcement). Figueroa understands this as an indication that the confrontation was, at least in part, racist in nature. Allen follows this by wondering if Figueroa and her family are “triggered.”

Someone off-camera then claims that Allen is a kindergarten teacher. The Daily Dot confirmed that Allen was previously a kindergarten teacher, but is currently retired.

The video currently has over 2.4 million views.

Another day, another racist Karen 🥴

In a series of follow-up videos, Figueroa provides a deeper insight into what happened.

According to Figueroa, she was walking down the street with three of her younger siblings and her adopted child when she met Allen.

Figueroa says she moved aside so Allen could walk around her on the sidewalk, at which point Allen reportedly responded “as it should.”

Hearing this and knowing that several young children were watching her, Figueroa says she decided to calmly confront Allen.

“I said, that wasn’t nice. You shouldn’t say that, and the right thing to do is that we both part ways,” Figueroa recalled.

This would have resulted in a stalemate between Figueroa and Allen. When Figueroa again claimed she wouldn’t move and made a joke about the situation, she claims Allen punched her in the neck. The punch can be seen in a clip posted to Figueroa’s Instagram.

Figueroa says she quickly fought back and a fight broke out. The police were called and, according to the following video, Figueroa’s mother helped break up the fight, which resulted in the situation shown in the original video.

At this point, Allen allegedly attempted to leave the scene, pushing Figueroa’s brother-in-law in the process. Allen would then have started scratching Figueroa.

After more arguments, the Tiktoker says Allen walked into a restaurant, at which point Figueroa and his family waited outside. The restaurant manager then allegedly came out and accused Figueroa and his family of harassing Allen. The family responded by informing the director that the police were on the way and that Allen had assaulted Figueroa.

When the sheriff arrived, he allegedly asked Figueroa, So are you the problem?

In another video, Figueroa continues her story. When the police arrived, Figueroa and her husband realized they had to approach the situation with caution if they were to be believed, she said.

“My husband pulled me to the side and he said, baby, I need you to wipe those tears away. You don’t have the privilege of cracking up right now. Your family needs you. If you were white, you could cry, you could do whatever you want. But you’re not white. You’re brown and he won’t listen to you if you’re an emotional wreck,” Figueroa says.

“As heartbreaking as it was, I knew he was telling the truth,” Figueroa admits. “Because it was true!” I knew I wasn’t going to be listened to if I was an emotional wreck.

Figueroa then allegedly told the officer that she had video documentation of the fact that they had not started the fight. At that time, another man, who was white, also approached the officer and said he had witnessed the entire event and could verify Figueroa’s claims.

At this point, Allen reportedly fled the scene.

Officers eventually caught up with Allen and questioned her for “a good hour,” Figueroa said.

After the conversation was over, the TikToker said the sheriff and a city officer came to speak with her and her family. The sheriff reportedly noticed Figueroa’s family was filming the interaction and reprimanded them for it, to which Figueroa and his family replied that they were doing it for their own safety.

The officer and sheriff then dismissed Figueroa and allegedly told her that Allen claimed that Figueroa and her family were harassing her. She says they then said there was no evidence that Figueroa’s alleged crime actually happened.

Upon hearing this, Figueroa again informed the officers that she had recorded the assault, a fact the sheriff allegedly omitted from the officer. When the officer asked to see him, Figueroa says she showed him the footage, which she says resulted in Allen’s immediate arrest.

The aforementioned Figueroa Instagram post shows Allen’s arrest record. According to that same message, Allen was later convicted of assault, to which she pleaded guilty.

In a final video, Figueroa says the officer apologized. Still, Figueroa says the ordeal has reminded him of the injustice present in the American legal system.

“For me, having to go through all of this to get this done literally puts into perspective why brown people don’t get the justice they deserve.” “They have to jump through fucking hoops to get there, and it takes away the consideration that I have the mental and emotional stability to really calm down, ground myself and be able to hold a conversation with an officer to explain and defend myself on a situation that I did not cause. Every time I’ve realized that, it’s made me so, incredibly angry at the justice system.

She attributes the success of their case to the family’s ability to communicate with officers, which she notes many lack the ability to do.

“We all knew the language. We all knew how to defend ourselves,” she explains. “We all knew how to step away from our emotions and be able to have a real, informed conversation with the officers, and we didn’t lose our shit. That’s how we got a conviction.

Viewers overwhelmingly supported Figueroa.

“You did an amazing job sharing this story,” one user wrote. “It puts so much into perspective and I’m glad you got the justice you deserve.”

“To finish!!!! A good result!!” added another, “I’m so sorry this happened to you and your family, but I’m glad she didn’t get away with it!”

“And that’s exactly why filming helps,” a third shared. “So sad it has to come to this.”
