Seth Rogen Roasts Critics Choice Awards For Not Nominating The CW – The Hollywood Reporter

If Seth Rogen has to present at a big Hollywood awards show, you can count on him to come off the script.

The Fabelmans and Pam & Tommy star, who angered Emmys producers in 2021 when he took aim at that show’s COVID-19 protocols while presenting the night’s top prize, showed up at Century City on Sunday to present Best Comedy Series for the Critics’ Choice Award.

Rogen wasted no time in questioning the show’s new format of presenting two prizes at once, with winners even sharing an envelope. ” I’ve never been there. Do they always give two rewards at once? It was weird. Why are they doing this?” he said to generous laughter from the star-studded audience at the Fairmont Century Plaza. “Are we pressed for time? Get another hour. It can’t be that expensive. This show airs at 4 p.m. on The CW This can’t be [a] expensive time slot from my understanding of how it all works.

That said, Rogen wanted to make it clear that he wasn’t suggesting The CW “is bad,” but perhaps the Critics Choice Association did that by not nominating any of the network’s shows. “You say it’s bad. We’re on your least favorite network. How did it happen? Name yourself next time, you’ll get one. Nobody will think it’s weird, they’ll think it’s good,” Rogen explained.

Before presenting the nominees for Best Comedy Series — the trophy ultimately went to Quinta Brunson and her team at Abbott Elementary — he had one last joke. “If you were a normal viewer of The CW, this is a startling image to see on your television right now. I may be the first Jew in The CW’s history. Soak it up.
