If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Or so the saying goes. And the same goes for styling formulas. That Princess of Wales has been honing hers over the last few months, and her latest outfit is no exception.

Kate, 41, visited Foxcubs Nursery in Luton on Wednesday afternoon wearing one of the most hardworking style combinations in her arsenal: coordinated split knits under a classic winter coat. She has hit this formula many times for public appearances lately, proving that once you understand a style that works for you, go with it.

The color combinations may change, but the basic formula remains: a knit style, often a turtle-neck style, a long-sleeved top, with a slightly flared A-line midi length skirt, in the same color and knit.

The occasional look is a knitted all-in-one dress combined with a leather belt at the waist, combined with knee-high boots and combined with a long, classic coat.

The mother of three visited a childcare and early education center in Luton for her first solo appearance since release Prince Harrybomb memoir.

She wore a bright orange rib-knit twin made by Gabriella Hearst and her Massimo Dutti 349 cashmere wool camel coat, accessorized with her brown suede Gianvito Rossi boots, a Stuart Weitzman brown suede clutch, and Kiki McDonough’s citrine pear drop earrings.

Every element of Wednesday’s outfit comes from Kate’s existing wardrobe, proving once again that once you’ve found a style formula that works for you, you can wear it back at will.

But it’s not just new, the Princess of Wales has had the formula of style at her fingertips for months.
