The list is taken from October 2022. The overall score combines customer ratings with the rating provided by Which?.

Customers were asked to rate suppliers based on how they behaved in a crisis, and whether they let customers down.

How well did they do customer service, how did they handle customer complaints and what support did they provide to customers in need

It asked 10,197 energy customers to take part in the entire survey.

that? Octopus Energy ranked first with 78%, and Utilita came in second with 67%.

Utility Warehouse was third, with 65%.

But SSE Energy Services came in third from last, scoring 58%, just above Eon Next’s 57%.

The last time they scored was the Scottish powerhouse who finished with 51%.

Rocío Concha, which one? The Director of Policy and Advocacy said: “While customers are choosing to stay put due to a lack of deals in the energy market, our research has found that some companies are not meeting the needs of their customers during a cost-of-living crisis.

“Providers need to make it as easy as possible for customers to call and ask for support when they need it — or customers will vote with their feet and walk away when that becomes an option.”

Best and worst suppliers ranked

that? It rated suppliers among three major customer service categories including complaints, customer service, and customer support.

Each category was scored 10, 17, and 23, respectively, to arrive at the overall evaluation score.

This was then combined with star ratings given by customers based on how they felt the supplier handled being in crisis.

All of these scores are combined to arrive at an overall resource percentage.

But high scores have slipped since the previous year, according to Which?.

Other than Octopus, Utilita, Utility Warehouse, SSE Energy Services, Eon Next and Scottish Power, here’s who else is on the list:

Suppliers Ecotricity, GEUK, Good Energy, M&S Energy and Outfox the Market received too few customer responses to be included in the survey.
