Stark and Hull return to T2 finish at HGV Tournament of Champions | LPGA

Maja Stark felt the “Sunday fears” when she arrived at Lake Nona Golf and Country Club for the final day of the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. The Swede felt the fatigue of the end of the week during the warm-up and started +3 through seven holes. His first birdie of the round, at No. 9, gave the 23-year-old confidence heading into the back nine, where he carded five more birdies to post a fourth-round 69 and finish in a tie for second. While Stark’s scorecard reflects a change in momentum before his turn, it wasn’t until a few holes later that his confidence fully established itself.

“Maybe more (No. 12) because it was a long putt I made. A little slick, right to left, a lot of wind coming in right when I hit it,” Stark said as he felt his day turn. “So I think this was just a confirmation that you can make a putt even when it’s this windy.”

Charley Hull also had a bounce back moment in the final round of the #HGVLPGA to join Stark for second at -12. After double-bogeying the par-3 sixth, the Brit made an eagle on No. 9 to undo the consequences of his mistake. The 26-year-old has had a disruptive offseason, lowering her expectations for a trip to Lake Nona for the first event of the 2023 LPGA Tour season. Due to the cold temperatures in Great Britain, Hull have been training mainly in Morocco without their coach. He has also been worried about moving house while he takes and passes his driving test.

“Obviously, I haven’t seen my coach in a few weeks, so this week I didn’t know where my swing was. I hadn’t practiced last week because I had passed my driving test and was moving,” Hull said. “I feel like I’ve had a pretty decent week because I didn’t know where I was.”
