The Fdration Internationale de l’Automobile announces today that it has officially launched the application process to identify potential teams wishing to participate at a competitive level in the FIA ​​Formula 1 World Championship.

The FIA ​​welcomes interest from parties with serious intentions to participate in the FIA ​​Formula 1 World Championship. The great interest of many potential candidates is further proof of the championship’s popularity and growth.

A thorough due diligence is carried out for all applicants. The evaluation of each application covers in particular the technical capabilities and resources of the applicant team, the ability of the team to acquire and maintain sufficient funding to enable it to participate in the championships at a competitive level, as well as the experience and personnel resources of the team.

For the first time, all candidates would have to consider how it would meet the challenge of sustainable development and how it plans to achieve a net carbon footprint by 2030. Any potential F1 team would also have to demonstrate how it intends to achieve a positive social impact through its involvement in the sport. This would help achieve the shared goals of the FIA ​​and Formula One Management.

The overall long-term benefits of the championship, involving all stakeholders, will determine the selected candidates and the applicable rules and governance arrangements.

The terms of the formal application process (including full selection criteria, applicable deadlines, statutory requirements and other conditions) will be provided to applicants who submit an initial expression of interest to the FIA.

The FIA ​​believes that the conditions are right for interested parties who meet the selection criteria to formally express their interest in entering the championship.

For the first time, as part of the selection criteria, we are asking candidates to tell us how they would meet the FIA’s sustainability criteria and how they would make a positive impact on society through sport.

The process is a logical extension of the positive acceptance by engine manufacturers of the FIA’s 2026 F1 Power Unit regulations, which has attracted Audi to the Formula 1 series and sparked interest among other potential entrants.
