The ‘weird’ Collina Strada fashion show was torn up

Talk about catwalks.

New York Fashion Week starting Friday with a bang – or rather, a bark.

Audiences howled over the Collina Strada Fall 2023 show, which amused and shocked audiences as designers created models with animal prosthetics to match the delicate ensemble.

The collection titled “Please Don’t Eat My Friends” represents the latest designs from eco-friendly fashion house. It also divided the internet, with some keyboard critics calling it “weird” and a “nightmare”.

Instead of pacing the runway, animorphic models crawled, pranced, and swept through rows of bewildered onlookers. From reptiles to pure avians, models flaunt elongated ear pieces, teal beaks, reptile masks and pig snouts, some snore or bark when they move.

Wild looks turn THC NYC Soho, an immersive cannabis experience, into a curated Animal Kingdom. Some models even carried props appropriate to their couture – with one carrying a barrel of hay and creative director Hillary Taymour’s pet Pomeranian, Powwie.

One model appears wearing a full head prosthetic that looks like a reptile, along with white sneakers with webbed feet painted over them. A green trench coat in checkered and multi-layered, moss-colored trim completes the outfit.

Another flashed a mouse-like pink muzzle and clutched a pink and green tote bag, which matched the color scheme of their fishnet skirt and auburn hair.

The show also featured transgender model Aaron Rose Philip, who suffers from cerebral palsy. he became the first black trans model with a disability to be signed by a major modeling agency—Elite Model Management, early in her career.

In a 2021 interview with Voguethe 21-year-old model, who used a wheelchair on the catwalk at the Collina Strada show, said her runway debut with Moschino for her Spring 2022 collection was her biggest career achievement at the time.

At the Collina Strada, Taymour closed the show wearing his own pair of pointed ear prosthetics and a graphic tee printed with animals.

When asked about the divisive look, a rep for the brand referred The Post to the press release for the collection.
