Oh, it’s great to be here in the town of East Palestine, not a great name, said James Austin Johnson portraying Donald Trump tonight, which started on Saturday Night Live. I’m here and I brought hats, cameras and hats, he added after taking a swipe at Joe Biden for visiting the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv and Volodymyr Zelenskyy earlier this week and had a visit from his own legal problem.

Just over three days after the former and would-be future POTUS made a self-aggrandizing trip to the small Ohio town ravaged by a massive chemical fire following a train derailment, tonight’s SNL cold open is sure to which started earlier than most of the show. had its 48th season. Pulling double duty for months as both Trump and Biden, Johnson once again enthusiastically demonstrated that the former is his strong suit.
Modeling what a train wreck looked like a real-life tramp in East Palestine on Wednesday, Johnson mentioned the beautiful rainbows and discoloration of the town’s water, Rihannas Super Bowl halftime show and your train is explode and who do we blame?

Coming one day after the one-year anniversary of Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine, tonight’s edition of the long-running NBC late-nighter has plenty of material to draw from. Along with the very serious war on NATO’s eastern flank, there’s the crazy and deadly wet weather in California, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greens Presidents Day for a national divorce, and the escalating conflict in the GOP ranks as ex-pals Trump and Ron DeSantis dispute and foot-stamp the 2024 nomination and the impending impeachment.
Returning to the seemingly bottomless pit of Trump, who controversially hosted SNL in the midst of the 2016 campaign, isn’t exactly the most original approach the show could have taken tonight but it’s a tried and true tactic that certainly which is not tired.
Because of Trumpland’s dangerous and absurd turn, SNL also brought out Emily Kohrs, played by cast member Chloe Fineman.

Korhs nudge nudge, wink wink interviews in closed-doors deliberations can threaten the case itself. In real life, Trump called the Georgia grand jury a Kangaroo court and mocked Kohrs himself.
On SNL, mock Trump said: Can you believe it? They almost got me and then this young horse came in and saved the day. Thank you Emily.
Back for the first time since February 4, tonight’s SNL will see host Woody Harrelson join the Five-Timer Club. From hosting duties during the Cheers days of 1989 (followed by 1992, 2014 and 2019), White House Plumbers star Harrelson also entered SNL in the early days of the 2020 presidential campaign as a then-candidate that Joe Biden. In an unlikely coincidence, tonight was also the fifth time Jack White rocked 30 Rockefeller Plazas studio 8H as SNLs musical guest.
Next week, Saturday Night Live will feature Kansas City Chiefs tight end and Super Bowl champ Travis Kelce in his hosting debut, with Kelsea Ballerini as the musical guest. On March 11, the show will have Wednesday star Jenna Ortega take on SNL with The 1975 as the musical act.
