King, Malone Sweep Ivy League Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Honors

PRINCETON, NJ Harvard Men’s Lacrosse swept the Ivy League weekly honors after a thrilling 16-15 overtime victory over Brown on Saturday. Second year student Sam King and the first year Teddy Malone took home the Ivy League Player and Rookie of the Week honors as they completed the win on the field. The weekly honor is Malone’s first of his young career and King’s second.

This is the first weekly awards ceremony for the Crimson men’s lacrosse program since the 2011 season.

King, a Baltimore native, earned his first career Player of the Week award after scoring a team-high seven points and adding the game-winning goal in overtime to lift the Crimson to victory in its Ivy League opener against Brown. King’s four goals and three assists were also both team highs.

King currently leads the Crimson and is tied for 12th^th in the nation at 5.0 points per game this season. His goals per game (3.00) and assists per game (2.00) rank him 21st in the nation.

First Year Attack, Teddy Malone, received his first Ivy League Weekly award after a six-point outing against the Bears. His points, goals and assists totals were all career highs and the second-highest total for the Crimson vs. the Browns. Malone also had a shot that turned into the game-tying goal with just 13 seconds left to force overtime.

Malone has reached 10 points in just four games this season. His points per game is ninth-highest in the nation among Ivy League first-years and second-highest among rookies.

The duo of King and Malone will be back on the court tomorrow night when Harvard and Boston University face off in Wednesday’s game. The regional rivals will go toe-to-toe tomorrow at 7pm at Nickerson Field and on ESPN+.
