Griffith won the heptathlon, the Cardinals ranked Joe Walker as the invitee

OXFORD, Miss. The Ball State track and field team closed out the second day of the Joe Walker Invitational with event wins and strong individual performances.

Senior Charity Griffith won the heptathlon and set a new Ball State program record and personal best with his final score of 5517. He beat his own previous school record of 5455. This mark puts him atop the MAC outdoor scoring leaderboard. His heptathlon mark is eighth in the NCAA. Griffiths has the third best long jump in the MAC series today with the long jump result of the heptathlon.

Senior Lea-Marie Diedicke scored 4,827 in the heptathlon, which ranked him second on the MAC outdoor all-time list and improved his personal best by 400 points. Diedicke’s performance in the javelin earned him a top-seven finish in the MAC series.

4×400 relay team Alexis Thigpen, Jenna Oriani, Allison Valladay and Emma Potter ran a season best time. Their performance puts them in second place in the MAC standings.

Freshman Alana Springer ran his own record in 100 meters (11.83) and finished second. His time is the second best time in the MAC 100m. Lindley Steele also achieved a career best in the 100m.

Jessica Velez ran a huge collegiate best 5000m 18:40. Ella Fullmerearned a lifetime personal best in the 5000m, improving his time by 35 seconds.
Vivian Van Eck ran a strong race and a personal best of 10 seconds in the 5000m.

Jenna Schifferer ran a college personal best in the 800m. Sarah Greer won his heat in the 1500m and ran a personal best, improving his time by nine seconds.

Emma Potter ran a season-best time in the 400m, which ranks fifth in the current MAC 400m rankings. Malena Higgins set an outdoor collegiate personal best in the shot put.

The Cardinals will host their first home game of the season, the We Fly Challenge, at the Briner Sports Complex on the 14th-15th. April, when the Cardinals will recognize their seniors at 11:30 a.m. for their contributions to the program.
