USC men’s tennis is enjoying Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year honors and a solid lineup of first-team and honorable mention honorees. Senior Stefan Dostanic and Fifth Year Bradley Frye received Doubles Team of the Year honors, while six Trojans have earned All-Pac-12 honors.
USC’s Dostanic and Frye are the Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year for the second consecutive season, the first to win the award since UCLA’s Evan Zhu and Martin Redlick in 2017 and 2018. The league’s top doubles duo at No. 13, who have been as many as Sept. 2, they carry 12-9 overall record into NCAA play. They are just the fourth duo to earn the award in consecutive years since its inception in 2000. They are the other Trojan pair to do so, Robert Farah and Steve Johnson in 2009-2010. Troy has now won the conference’s Double Team of the Year award for the third consecutive season.
Troy’s three-pack of All-Pac-12 First Team honors is the first time all but SeniorDostanic, who has first team honors as the Pac-12 Singles Player of the Year last season. A junior has entered this year’s list Wojtek Marek and a sophomorePeter Mack.All three have been important in USC’s lineup, with all double-digit singles wins thus far leading NCAA singles, tying Makk with 26 wins. The entire group has also combined to account for 12 of USC’s 19 dual meet wins thus far.
Three other Trojans were honorable mentions, including Frye, a junior Lodewijk Weststrate and a freshman Learner Road. Combined, the three have tallied four tackles for the Trojans this season.
THIS WEEK
Well. No. 10 USC (10-seed) will open its 2023 NCAA campaign at home for the 16th straight time, hosting Idaho, UC Santa Barbara and San Diego for the first and second rounds on the 5th-6th. May at Marks Stadium. On Friday (May 5), UC Santa Barbara and San Diego kick things off at 11:00 a.m., followed by USC vs. Idaho at 2:00 p.m. The winning teams will meet in the NCAA second round at 2 p.m. Saturday (May 6) to fight for a ticket to the NCAA Super Regional tournament at locations to be determined.
The eight teams that make it out of this round will advance to the USTA Nationals for the remaining rounds of the NCAA competition, which will take place on the 18th-20th. May. Likewise, the NCAA individual championships will be held at the Complex in singles and doubles competitions from 22-27. May.

In the latest ITA team rankings, USC remained ranked No. 10 after a strong finish at the Pac-12 Championships.
USC has three Trojans in national singles play with seniorsStefan DostanicTroy’s top ranked 25th. Troy’s sophomorePeter Macklocked at number 39Wojtek Marekreached 109th place.

NCAA NOTES
Led by the head coachBrett Masiin his fourth season, USC is making its 16th straight trip to the NCAA Tournament and 44th appearance overall. Now carrying a 19-7 overall record, the 10th-ranked Trojans are looking to get deep into the tournament. With five NCAA crowns claimed since 2009, USC remains the nation’s leader with 21 all-time national championships and owns a 112-38 overall record in the NCAA Tournament. USC was the 12th seed in the 2022 NCAA Super Regional. During USC’s current 16-year run in the NCAA, USC has been ranked #1 (2012 & 2014), #2 (2011), #4 (2013 & 2017), #5 (2010), #7 (2015), #8 (2009 and 2019), No. 10 (2016, 2018 and 2023), No. 12 (2007 and 2021) and No. 13 (2022) with NCAA titles in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2012 and 2014.
TROJANS to this day
USC secured its spot in the 2023 NCAA Tournament as an automatic qualifier after reaching the Pac-12 Tournament Championship. The title was the fourth straight conference crown and seventh overall for the Trojans and improved their record to 19-7. In the last NCAA tournament, USC was seeded 12th and earned a 2022 NCAA Super Regional berth. Ranked No. 10 in the nation in the most recent poll, USC has a roster balanced by veterans and emerging young talent. . Pac-12 Championship pace USC also has three-time singles players and two ranked doubles pairs.
SOUTING IDAHO
Unranked Idaho comes out of the Big Sky Conference after securing its second straight conference championship. The Vandals have a 15-8 overall record and a 5-2 record in conference play this season. Idaho is 1-2 against ranked opponents this season. He beat No. 55 New Mexico in February and loses to both No. 67 Air Force and No. 70 Northern Arizona. Idaho has no ranked singles or doubles players. The Trojans are 2-0 in their all-time series against Idaho.
SCOUTING UC SANTA BARBARA
Well. 38 Santa Barbara enters the tournament as the winner of the Big West Conference. The Gauchos are 22-3 this season with a 5-1 record in conference play. Santa Barbara has no ranked singles players and one doubles doubles in No. 80 Phillip Jordan and Kai Brady. The Gauchos have played split against two ranked opponents this season with a win over No. 28 Cal followed by a loss against No. 64 Oregon. The Trojans have never faced the Gauchos.
PARTITIONUNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO
Well. No. 30 San Diego enters the tournament after losing to No. 37 Pepperdine for the West Coast Conference title. USD is 17-7 this season with an 8-1 record in conference play. San Diego has gone 6-5 in 11 games against ranked opponents this season. San Diego has one ranked player in Iiro Vasa at No. 76, and no ranked doubles pairs. The Trojans are 43-3 all-time against San Diego.
PAC-12 CHAMPION
USC captured its fourth straight Pac-12 Tournament title after a dominating showing in Ojai, dropping just two singles games for the Trojans’ seventh conference crown. USC, the tournament’s number one seed, beat 9th seed Oregon 4-0 in the quarterfinals.Bradley Fryeget the Trojans to the semifinals for the 11th straight time. Well. 4 seed Stanford in the semifinals, USC snagged a doubles point drop, but rebounded in singles, claiming four singles to win the match and advance to the championship final. In the title match for the 10th time, USC struggled to get things going in doubles, dropping another early point. Troy came back in singles and won four singles matches as Wojtek Marek delivered the clinical.
NCAA INDIVIDUAL ACTION
USC men’s tennis has a familiar face heading into its second straight NCAA singles tournament, with two Trojans locked in singles and one USC duo in that draw. SeniorStefan Dostanicand a sophomorePeter Mackhave secured their spots in the 64-player NCAA singles draw, while Dostanic and Fifth yearBradley Fryeare playing their second NCAA dual match.
LAST SEASON
InBrett MasiIn his second season at the helm of the USC program, the Trojans posted a 23-6 overall record and captured the 2022 Pac-12 Tournament Championship along the way. After a run to the 2022 NCAA Super Regional where USC fell in a tough 4-2 decision to Ohio State, the Trojans finished the season ranked No. 10 in the nation. Stefan Dostanic and Bradley Frye both earned ITA All-American status in doubles after reaching the round of 32 in NCAA doubles. Dostanic also earned ITA All-America status in singles, reaching the Round of 16. USC nearly swept the Pac-12 postseason honors, as the Trojans claimed. Coach of the Year, Singles Player of the Year and Doubles Team of the Year.
