Boom news! | Transfer OL Troy Everett commits to Oklahoma! – The football brain

Everett was named a second-team freshman All-American after 22 seasons, his redshirt freshman season, and started six games at center for App State and played in 10 games last season. He heads to Norman with three seasons of eligibility.

Back on April 16th, I spoke with a former Everetts high school coach who gave this assessment of what OU is getting in Everett:

He can play all three infield positions at a high level. He has a really high football IQ and is tougher than a pine tree. Coach Harless also mentioned that he thinks Troy Everett is a “superior young man.”

The Sooners are chasing two offensive linemen this cycle, Everett and San Diego State transfer Josh Simmons, who ended up committing to Ohio State. As we’ve documented throughout the recruiting process, including April 28, OU was very confident they would land at least one of the targets:

***A different source tells us OU feels very good about potentially adding one lineman and would be open to trying to make room for both if possible, but stated the plan is to take one for sure.

As you can see, OU felt very good about Everett while they were still trying to swing Simmons.

A very nice addition to the Sooners offensive line and I think he will make an immediate impact when he arrives as he demands playing time.
