Kieran Tierney has been slammed by Arsenal as Brighton defeat has Oleksandr Zinchenko fans dreaming

[ad_1]

Kieran Tierney had a shot at winning the Arsenal title when Oleksander Zinchenko was ruled out for the season.

But with their hopes of dominating the league looking all but over after today’s loss to Brighton, Gunners fans’ faith in the Scottish defender seems to be going in the same direction. He has played second fiddle to the Ukrainian for most of this season due to the latter’s technique and ability to join in attacks and play as an inverted full-back.

Tierney still had his supporters among those who thought he deserved more playing time and with Zinchenko making some high-profile mistakes lately, that was amplified. Plenty touted him as a better defender at the very least and a better option for certain games that require this type of player.

However, having had a chance today, some supporters seem to blame a final part of their failures today on a drop in quality in that position with the arrival of the former Celtic man.

One wrote on Twitter: “We were a disgrace in the final third. There’s a bigger drop in Tierney’s ability on the ball than with Zinchenko defensively.”

Another said: “Arsenal are less well built with Tierney than with Holding.

Another gunner wrote: “Tierney doesn’t fit the system and it’s sad but he should definitely go.

Another said: “No checks, we miss Zinchenko. Hopefully people will finally start to understand why he’s the first choice over Tierney.”
