Indian table tennis player Reeth Rishya Tennison is all set to give her best as she prepares for her maiden World Singles Championships to be held in Durban from 20-28. May.
The ace paddler is part of the 11-member Indian squad, comprising five men and six women, that will leave for South Africa on Wednesday.
Reeth Rishya has been in the headlines for the past couple of years and recently won the women’s singles title in April at an inter-Petroleum tournament that featured almost all the top players in the country.
In 2021, she became the first Indian woman to win a Pro Tour singles title when she won the Ecuador Open.
“This is my first World Championship in singles and I’m going to give my best in the tournament. I’ve been working on my techniques like staying close to the table, brushing more balls and being consistent instead of going strong,” Reeth said in a release.
“I’ve been working on my diet lately. I’ve been working closely with my nutritionist and fitness coach to be in the best physical shape before the World Cup,” he added.
The ace rower took time off from the international calendar to train in Hyderabad with his personal trainer Aman Balgu to prepare for the big event.
“The Commonwealth Games was my first major event and I learned a lot through the experience. I have also worked and corrected my mistakes and will try to do my best in the upcoming World Championships,” said Reeth.
