Jennifer Lopez Paired Her Striped Cutout Dress with Controversial Summer Boots

Sandal season is here, meaning that in addition to flip-flops, slides and strappy shoes, the controversial wedge shoe is also coming out of hibernation. The core problem? On Saturday, Jennifer Lopez stepped out in divisive sandals while shopping with husband, Ben Affleck, and 15-year-old twins, Max and Emme, in Beverly Hills.

Embracing the warm weather over the weekend, the singer-actress-slash wore a backless yellow and brown striped midi dress with side-cuts and spaghetti straps, and teamed it with a matching pair of woven espadrille wedges. And just like her big gold hoops and gold-tone aviator sunglasses (which she also wears for daytime outings), the wedge quickly became J.Lo’s signature style. She had worn her clunky sandals for years and every summer, like clockwork, she took them out of the closet to wear the following season.

Lopez completed her summer look with a brown leather Saint Laurent chain shoulder bag and an easy updo that was complemented by her sheer drape bangs.

Ben, for his part, coordinated with his wife in beige button-downs, blue jeans, brown sneakers, and his very own aviator glasses.

The Bennifer family outing comes just days after Lopez revealed that her children have a “difficult time by having famous parents. Being the child of famous parents really isn’t something a lot of people can fathom, and I feel for it [my kids] … because they didn’t vote for that, J.Lo said of her twins, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony, during a recent roundtable discussion. They just started telling me how people treat them. When they walked into the room, that’s what people thought; they don’t see them for what they are. And I think that must be a really hard thing for them.

She added that her children have a hard time growing up and being themselves, because they know the world is watching their every move. They know they have a lens on them, and it’s tough. Probably not [a] a really nice thing to say, because a lot of people don’t get it, he says, before sadly admitting, “I did that to them.”
