The Eagles and Wildcats will battle it out in a showdown for the national title

CHESTNUT HILL, Mess. – Boston College lacrosse and Northwestern meet at noon Sunday in the ESPN national championship showdown in Cary, NC at WakeMed Soccer Park.

Boston College came back from a 7-5 deficit in the final quarter to knock off Syracuse in the national semifinals on Friday.Kayla Martelloput BC ahead for the first time 3:31 into the fourth quarter, finding the back of the net from 8m out.Young Medjidled BC with five goals – including two early in the fourth quarter – tied the game with 9:12 to go, scoring Martello. Syracuse scored the first three goals of the contest to take a 3-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the game. The defense allowed a season-low seven goals in the win.

The defense remains locked

The Eagles are playing great defense in the postseason, limiting all six of their opponents to less than 10 goals. BC has held their opponents to an average of eight goals below their opponents’ average. Boston College held Notre Dame to both season-lows in scoring and limited Syracuse to a season-worst total on Friday.

Medjid continued his torrid scoring streak as he scored five of the Eagles’ eight goals. The Eagles are 16-0 since 2021, with Medjid scoring five goals and having 11 goals and four assists in the NCAA Tournament.

Shea Stopper
Shea Dolce is on a roll in the postseason, where he has a .481 save percentage and a 7.00 goals-against average. Dolce made 39 saves over the stretch and was named ACC Tournament Most Valuable Player along with a top 10 offense.

Series history

It will be the second time the Eagles have faced Northwestern this season, where the Wildcats took a narrow 15-14 lead. BC led 10-6 at halftime but was outscored 9-4 in the final two periods. Kayla Martello and Medjid scored four goals in the loss to lead the offense.
