The tennis tournament honors the late lawyer

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – A tennis tournament celebrates the life of a local attorney and makes his dreams come true.

The Bill Besley Open Tennis Tournament is held at the WildeWood Club.

Besley was a lawyer who died of cancer in 2018 at the age of 54.

He was an avid tennis player and his goal was to organize a tennis tournament in Colombia.

50 high level tennis players battled it out in 10 doubles matches on Saturday 27th May to make Besley’s dream come true.

His loved ones say it was amazing to see his vision come true.

Wife Sharon Besley says: My amazing husband Bill Besley would have loved this weekend. He and Justin Downey, WildeWood Club tennis pro, planned the tournament. Men playing doubles tennis at a high level with little prize money. Justin has made the Bills dream come true. It is exceptional.

The second day of the tournament started on May 28 at 11 am

The championship game will be played at 2:30 p.m. and the winners will take home two thousand dollars.

The organizers of the tournament plan to make it an annual event.
