MILWAUKEE, June 8, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Most employers around the world are optimistic that emerging technologies including artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, virtual/augmented reality ( VR/AR), the blockchain and others, won’t eliminate workers, but will actually create more jobs. That’s according to The Future is Now: AI, the Metaverse, & the World of Work, from Experis, a global leader in IT professional services and resources and part of the ManpowerGroup (NYSE:MAN) family of brands.
“The integration of artificial intelligence, machine learning, VR/AR and other emerging technologies is rapidly transforming industries and driving the need for an adaptable workforce,” said Experis senior vice president Ger Doyle. hire or upskill existing talent to leverage potential productivity gains. Smart employers know that embracing digitization and nurturing human talent will increase their readiness to succeed in this era of rapid technological progress.
With 78% of IT organizations reporting difficulties hiring the talent they need with the skills they want, a growing number of companies are adopting or plan to adopt the use of emerging technologies in their recruiting processes, including: AI (35% adopted, 36% planned), Conversational AI (35% adopted, 36% planned), Machine Learning (38% adopted, 34% planned), and VR (30% adopted, 35% planned).
“So far, the signals are no different than what we’ve seen with previous versions of artificial intelligence or technological innovation. Generative AI can be expected to primarily automate tasks and skills within jobs rather than entire jobs. We should welcome the opportunity to outsource these mundane tasks by freeing up our time for more creative and intellectually sophisticated pursuits,” said Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, Chief Innovation Officer at ManpowerGroup. “It’s not about us versus AI or humans versus humans. Instead, it’s about how we can harness these tools to augment and enhance our unique human capabilities and lead more human-centered lives.
